I loved working with Taina Litwak and Alex Konstantinov. Alex, who is a research scientist at the Smithsonian, is also an accomplished artist and was a great help to my illustrations for accuracy. Taina taught me quite a few tips and tricks and helped me a great deal with speeding up my workflow.
With week one of my internship behind me. I’m really excited to look back over what I’ve accomplished and the new skills I’ve learned and how I can apply them to other work.
My first attempt at digital illustration was completed in December of 2013. It wasn’t great at all, but I knew I really wanted to push myself to learn digital illustration. I spent my winter holiday doodling away on my tablet and slowly but surely felt like I made real progress with the tool.
I'm currently working on a 3D medical animation about compartment syndrome. With something so complicated I really want to make sure I have all the tiny detailed ironed out before I jump into animating.
My Cover Design entry for the novel Springtime in Lawrence Park by Arnold Logan has won! After reading the first chapter I came up with a few different illustration ideas. The winning design description is written below:
